HISTORY
Fox Valley Containers was born in 1986
and started by Don Brown. Don had been vice-president and owned a part
of Armstrong Containers, one of the premier paint can manufacturing
companies in the U.S. After the executives who owned the company sold
it, Don went under contract with the new ownership at Armstrong to
represent them and handle the sales at several major accounts.
In late 1988, Don's son, David Brown
joined his father in the business. With Dave's arrival the business took
some new directions. Fox Valley Containers began handling LTL business
and the distribution end of the business took hold. In the months that
followed many new product lines were added beyond the original line of
paint and f-style cans. Fox Valley started handling other metal
containers such as steel pails and ink cans, along with plastic
containers such as pails and bottles. Fox Valley was on its way to
becoming one of the premier container distributors in the Chicago area.
In 1993 another one of Don's sons, Peter
Brown joined the business. Pete had been an attorney for a downtown
Chicago law firm, but opportunities in the family business lured him
away from the legal profession. Pete's arrival brought much needed
internal organization to the company, allowing Fox Valley to better
handle the rapid expansion that was underway.
Since those early days we have grown into
a regional company with multiple warehouse locations to service the
greater part of the upper midwest. In 1991 a warehouse location was
added in Minnesota in the Twin Cities area and business has enjoyed
continued growth ever since. In 1993 we opened our next warehouse in the
Grand Rapids, Michigan area, and business at that location has enjoyed
steady growth as well. In 1996 a third warehouse location was opened in
the Detroit, Michigan area, and shortly thereafter Bruce Mooradian, with
over 22 years of experience in the container field joined Fox Valley and
has led the Detroit operation through a period of rapid growth. In 1998
Fox Valley bought the assets of Acme Bottle in Grand Rapids, MI, and
added additional customers and capabilities.
Fox Valley continues to expand and grow,
and has added new product lines which includes many varieties of glass
and plastic bottles to further round out its product line.
